According to the National Institute of Health, 70-85% of all people have significant back pain at some time in their life. The NIH also reports that back pain is the most frequent cause of activity limitation in people younger than 45 years of age. Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability and time lost from work.
Common causes of neck and back pain can be caused from poor posture and body mechanics, stressful living, working habits, loss of physical fitness, or accidents. In the acute stages of back disorder, patients tend to recover in a short period of time, approximately one to seven days. Sub acute back pain usually lasts from seven days to seven weeks, while chronic pain usually lasts more than three months. More than 85% of people with low back pain improve with minimal treatment. However, back problems are recurrent and progressive in nature.
